Alright. Lately I've been looking for great ways to save money on
anything! One way I do that is by hanging my clothes to dry instead of using the electric dryer. My friend, Elaine, said she saves $30/month doing that... my Mom saves about $10/month. Elaine has 10 people in her family and my Mom just has her and Dad. Post your best money saving tip!
My biggest money saving tip is to cook from scratch. See my blog www.homesteadwannabes.blogspot.com, look under lables->Cooking from Scratch Commentary.
ReplyDeleteGet rid of you cable/satellite, get Netflix and use only your DVD/VCR.
Also, get rid of land-lines and go to cellphones only if possible can.
My family likes sausage patties and links... sooo expensive! Anyway, I thought I'd buy pork on sale and grind it then add spices and seasonings (sage and such) and form it into patties and freeze them. I know it's easy to get pork on sale and I won't have to add stuff like "BHA" and "propyl gallate". What is that stuff anyway??? I'll let you know how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteok, trying this again. use those dryer balls instead of dryer sheets they really work and is better for your dryer too.
ReplyDeletealright, so i bought some pork sirloin on sale for $1.49/lb and i checked to see the cost of pork sausage patties at the same time... $3.99 for 12ou... so more than $4/lb! joe seasoned the patties and the flavor was great! we thought we'd be smart and eliminate some of the fat. don't do that. it made a really dry pattie so now we need to figure out how to regrind it using fat from another chunk of meat, i guess. any ideas?
ReplyDeleteHum, never done that before. I would add some coconut oil if it were me. If you've ever heard of Nourishing Traditions or Weston Price Foundation, they say that animal fat isn't bad for you and back it up with science. You could probably look them up on-line and see their science behind those statements. Unrefined, coconut oil is very good for you even though it has a bad wrap in the traditional "health" world.
ReplyDeleteDoes coconut oil taste very "coconut-y"? Have you ever purchased from Azure Standard? They sell lots of organic grocery items in bulk for a discounted price. Look them up online.
ReplyDeleteDepends on what kind of coconut oil you buy. Fermented is very strong. If you buy Expeller pressed, you can barely taste it. I buy from Azure or Nature's Pantry when then have it on sale.
